Customizations Care Info
When you receive your gear and apparel from us, you'll find one of a few different types of embellishments on your item. Below, we've put together a quick and handy overview of how to best make your new stuff's customizations last.
Vinyl (HTV, Heat Transfer)
Heat transfer vinyl can be machine washed and dried. It is best washed inside out, in lukewarm or cooler water, and dried on Extra Low or Low heat. High temperatures can cause the glues to become undone, causing the vinyl to fall off, or peel significantly at the corners well before its time. Also avoid overly harsh detergents (e.g. heavy degreasers, bleaches), which may also affect the glue.
Vinyl will begin cracking, and peeling at small, sharp points eventually. This is normal, but shouldn't occur too soon if you're not too rough and wash carefully. Our preferred vendors for vinyl claim 50+ washes before cracking, but your mileage will almost certainly vary.
DTF (Direct To Film)
DTF trades durability for versatility. It's similar to vinyl, but more fragile. Machine washable, but you will definitely want to make sure it's washed inside out with lukewarm or cooler temperatures, and dried with as low temperature as possible, if not air dried while hanging. Avoid harsh detergents (e.g. heavy degreasers, bleaches), as they may compromise both the glue backing, and the color.
DTF does not hold the same 50+ washes durability before cracking like most other customizations. But it also shouldn't begin falling apart right away, as long as you treat it reasonably well. It should stay adhered to the fabric long after any cracking or color fading begins.
Screenprint Transfer
If you bought from us, and it looks screenprinted, it's actually a fancy heat transfer, but without the vinyl. This means its glue backing can be heat-sensitive in the washer and dryer. For best longevity, wash inside out, try not to wash above lukewarm temperature, and don't dry above Low temperature. Also avoid overly harsh detergents (e.g. heavy degreasers, bleaches), which may affect the glue.
Screenprint transfers should last about 50 washes before cracking begins, but your mileage may vary.
Embroidery
Embroidery is the ultimate king in durability and color lasting, second only to sublimation in durability. So long as you don't scrape across the embroidery threads with something sharp, it will hold for nearly forever.
In the event that you do accidentally cut some of the threads and they begin to fray, you can purchase and apply fabric adhesive for a quick and lasting fix.
